I comprehend a report this morning that was so resoundingly shocking that I dropped a half-dive in my high-fiber, Centrum Silver smoothie.
According to surveys from the Means Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the number of 55- to 59-year-olds who use marijuana has tripled in moral six years. The increase in people 50 and over that smoke dope wasn’t as spectacular; going from 1.9 percent in 2002 to just under 3 percent in 2008.
The older kids always did get the healthier weed.
That this breaking story comes as a surprise to the media – which has to be stiff considering what they pass off as news these days – is the real shocker specified their journalism professors probably had the best reefer on campus.
The 50 and older folks – a demographic into which I fair dipped my toe – brought marijuana with us as we aged; the thought being that stoned was the only way to permit the AARP magazine.
Folks who grew up in the 60s and 70s smoked weed in record school, hit the bong in college, fired up a joint after the kids were born, sparked a move when the little ingrates hit their teen years and stopped hiding the stash under the bed in a cigar box when we shipped them off to university (or choky, depending on the kid).
