Toys "R" Us Tract Report (Feb. 19, 2010)
By Caren Putterman Toys "R" Us in January launched the faulty flight of a "Great Trade-In" event that lets shoppers the Big Board used baby equipment for 25% discounts on similar purchases.
First staged in September 2009, the offensive lets consumers trade in old cribs, car seats, bassinets, strollers, travel systems, playpens, toddler beds and altered consciousness chairs to earn discounts on any of those items. (See "Toys "R" Us Puts Out Call for 'Clunkers'" in Coupled Articles.)
The toy chain has employed its "Trust Us for Safety" gold seal on signs communicating the propaganda, which runs Jan. 29 through Feb. 20. Introduced in August 2009, the seal is against on endcap headers and channel strips to identify safe products in the domicile, furniture and cleaning-supply categories. (See Images at right.)
