L ast week I attended a program sponsored by Initiative Medina County titled “Breakfast Out and About.” The plan of the program is to familiarize Leadership graduates with local services and businesses. Our act for the program was Pinnacle Sports, 313 Medina Road. We were greeted at the door by
Lea Burns , lead of sales and marketing for the sports complex.
She introduced Earl Stalter , holder of the business, who spoke passionately about his history and the philosophy behind his business. Stalter expended 22 years climbing the corporate ladder at Arthur Andersen where he had many opportunities for worldwide voyages and where he became wealthy. On Sept. 11, 2001, he was in New York City and was impacted emotionally by the anarchist attacks. He decided he wanted to spend his time with his family, so he clear his job and began looking for a local business opportunity.
In February 2002, he bought Peak Sports with no business plan and no idea how to run the facility. He said, “If you’re here to learn a ‘rags to riches’ story, you’re in the naughty place.” For the first couple of years he rented the facility to teams and leagues. Then he unfaltering that he wanted more control over the type of coaching his young clients received.
