Children with disabilities are oftentimes forgotten, but they may be the children that most desperately prerequisite the love and support of a family.
We usually take the foster children we forgather during these stories on fun outings. We let them run around, play dress up and eat ice cream, but this story is different.
"That's a big mignonne smile."
At the Arkansas Pediatric Facility for Severely Disabled Children, fun is much more scabrous to experience. Most kids here have serious medical issues and few will ever function above the level of an infant or toddler.
"Children that can't talk for themselves, can't favour for themselves. And it's our job as an agency to advocate for these children," says Monica Spencer.
Monica Spencer, a DHS adoption master, is working hard to find children like three year old Danielle a forever relatives.
"She's the type of child that when you walk into the room, her smile just brightens the whole cubicle quarters. And it's just that warming feeling comes over you and a person as a human being and you cogitate on to yourself -- you know what can I do?" Monica adds.
